AZ Skarn Cu-Au-Ag Drilled Prospect

The AZ property was staked over an occurrence of high-grade copper-gold-silver skarn, discovered in 1988 by Ron Berdahl. Mineralization has only been found in float boulders as much of the property is covered in thick vegetation, making general prospecting difficult. Soil sampling revealed a strong, coincident copper, gold, and silver anomaly extending 350 m southeast from the float showing, with a trend of high copper values continuing over 3 km. Magnetic surveying outlined multiple areas of high response on the property. |

Limited drilling in the 1990s confirmed the presence of in situ skarn mineralization, though economic grades were not intersected. Nonetheless, observed mineralization has similar characteristics and sits in the same geological formations as the world-class Kennecott deposit, 120 km to the southwest. The property bears many similarities as well to precious-metal-enriched skarns of the Canadian Cordillera. All creeks in the vicinity of the occurrence have been found to host coarse gold and copper nuggets. As skarn deposits are often difficult systems to assess, the AZ property remains an interesting exploration target with good potential to host a rich low-tonnage, high-grade deposit. |
