With tungsten prices at historic highs, 18526 Yukon Inc. is dusting off two properties that it has held since the mid 1990s, both within 10 kilometers of the 4,055,075 mtu Risby deposit (optioned by 18526 to Playfair Mining Ltd.), and both exhibiting potential to host a similar style of deposit.  The properties were originally explored in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Mineralization on the Eva property consists of multiple exposures of scheelite-bearing skarn in black, slaty shale, grading to 1.92% WO3.  The bright blue-white fluorescence of the property’s scheelite under black light indicates a very high degree of purity within the mineral itself.

Six zones of mineralization are known to occur on the Eva, ranging in length from 8 m to 80 m, and in width from 0.8 m to 10 m, along a 90 m x 785 m trend.  Magnetic surveying suggests that several of the exposures continue beneath overburden to much greater dimensions, and that other potentially mineralized areas are completely unexposed.  A program of geochemical sampling, additional magnetic surveying and detailed geologic mapping could quickly bring this property to a drill-ready phase.

Fall colours on the Eva property.

The Stew Berdahl claims, 16 km south of the Eva, cover scheelite-bearing skarns extending from a mid-Cretaceous intrusive and disappearing beneath overburden.  Limited rock sampling on the property returned promising values, including a 2.2 m chip sample of 1.8% WO3 taken from a 25 m x 3 m exposure.  Magentic and EM surveying identified coincident anomalies that remain untested and open-ended.

The Eva property is located some 30 km south of the town of Faro, while the Stew property is within 20 kilometers of the unpaved, 2WD South Canol Highway.
