Selwyn Basin

Minfile: N/A

The Hemingway property comprises roughly 2880 ha overlying what 18526 Yukon Inc. has identified as one of the Hess River district’s most promising Carlin settings.  Located several kilometers NE of the mineraliferous Keele Pluton (of the Tombstone Plutonic Suite), the region is cut by a network of faults which both intersect and follow bedding planes through Lower Cambrian to Ordovician sedimentary facies.  Various carbonate units, including a locally occurring package of limestone conglomerates, are present between thick sequences of black pyritic shales and maroon & green phyllites.

Only sparse data is available regarding the area at present, though stream sediments samples recovered by the Yukon Geological Survey show encouraging numbers, with anomalous Carlin pathfinder levels in silts, silver values to 1.0 g/t and gold to 11 ppb.  (Carlin-style gold mineralization often is not readily detectible in standard stream sediment sampling – the same data set shows ATAC’s Osiris discovery as drained by an 8 ppb Au sample.)

The property lies 28 km north of MacMillan Pass, which is accessible from Ross River along the North Canol Road.
