Hopeful Vein Ag-Sn Deposit
72 claims ~1500 ha Selwyn Basin |
|
|
The Hopeful property (also known as “Zeta”) comprises a system of rich silver-tin greisen vein faults adjacent to and extending into a stock of the Tombstone Plutonic Suite. Mineralization was first discovered in 1980 by the Mattagami Lake Exploration Co. Ltd. The property was restaked in 1994 by Ron Berdahl. |

Drilling in the 1980s by Noranda Ltd. And Danra Resources Ltd. on one mineralized area, the Mattagami zone, revealed two subparallel vein faults with an estimated resource of 98,248 tonnes at 557.8 g/t silver for 1,761,949 oz silver, with 0.1% tin. Further drilling by ATAC Resources in 2008 confirmed the nature and grade of the Mattagami silver mineralization, which remains open along strike in both directions (drilling has only tested 260 m along a larger mineralized trend) and down dip (no drill holes have penetrated below 90 m from surface, though silver, lead and tin values all increase with depth). As ATAC dropped their option in order to focus on Carlin-style gold discoveries, the property has yet to see an economic evaluation. |

Outside of the Mattagami zone, comparable silver occurrences and multi-element geochemical anomalies on the property have received little attention. Surface mineralization has thus far only been found on exposed ridge crests; there is no reason to expect it does not also occur in the valleys where overburden and vegetation mask bedrock. Little detailed mapping, prospecting or soil sampling has been done on the overall property. Expansion of the Mattagami Zone and investigation of additional zones and anomalies hold the potential of revealing a much more significant mineralized system. |

The Hopeful property is situated some 95 kilometers west of the world-class Keno Hill silver camp (historic production of over 6.6 million kilograms of silver), and 100 kilometers east of Dawson City, in the highly productive Tintina mineral belt. The Brewery Creek and Ida/Oro properties lie within 40 and 20 km respectively. Hopeful is ~15 km north of the Clear Creek access road, and 4 km from an old winter bulldozer trail. |
