Selwyn Basin

Minfile: N/A

18526 Yukon Inc. staked the Keast property in September 2010 to cover a Carlin-style prospect in Selwyn Basin sediments.  The property overlies the Rogue thrust fault in the nose of a district-scale antiform, where tectonically shortened Ordovician and Silurian sediments are thrust over similarly shortened Cambrian units, comprising chert and argillitic facies with carbonate members.  Stocks and plutons of the Tombstone Plutonic Suite intrude to the northwest of the property along the axis of regional folding.

The property itself has not yet seen any detailed mapping or groundwork, though a silt sample from a stream draining the property assayed above the 99th percentile Territory-wide for silver and mercury concentrations, above the 95th percentile for gold and antimony, and above the 90th percentile for arsenic.  Since last year, the Rogue Thrust and its surrounding rock units have been staked almost in their entirety for their Carlin potential, but the Keast appears to represent the geochemical highlight of this part of the trend.
